Communications with others can also achieve more depth when both sides know what's going on. Flipside, operating on erroneous information makes all of those things harder. So go get the facts. This way, there's something actually binding others to the things they'll say and do. In more casual interactions with people, you don't want to put as much stock in any plans they toss out there. If those go down, great, but more often than not, things will fall through.
