In a way, the problems that can arise today will give you some insight into the road ahead, particularly if you continue to put certain things off (especially on the maintenance or management end). It can be annoying, but can serve as a reminder why certain activities are important and why you need to make them a priority. So if something around you is giving you warning signs, get on it, solve the problems or stabilize the issue and make sure it's solid before you move on to something else. There might be room to make some compromises that work out best for everyone, but if you're too against an idea from the onset to even talk those compromises out, you can crush those opportunities before they even have a chance to develop.
